What is a Cord?

A cord is a unit measurement that, when stacked, is four feet in height and width, as well as eight feet in length. Overall, it provides 128 cubic feet of logs. Our cords of firewood are pre-cut and split 4-6 ways. While we keep 16″ long logs in stock, we can also custom-cut to any length between 14″-20″. Don’t be fooled by someone with a pick-up selling a cord of wood out of the back of his pick-up truck. The measurements and weight just won’t allow a cord to be hauled in a basic pick-up or single axle trailer. You get what you pay for. We utilize CDL/DOT Rated Dump Trucks and Dumpsters registered to haul up 1,912.6 Cubic Feet(cuft) at a time. One cord of firewood is 128 cuft stacked. A tossed cord is 170 cuft. That means we can haul up to 11 cords at a time. We guarantee a FULL CORD of FIREWOOD!

Two Types of Firewood to Choose from

Woods in Flathead County and surrounding Northwest Montana, boast multiple softwood species. Although softwood is inferior to hardwood in terms of combustion quality, it burns reliably and enjoyably thanks to a fantastic coniferous smell. By combining several softwoods, we are able to offer wood fuel best suited for your needs. We make two options available:

Douglas Fir & Tamarack (Larch) Mix

Both Douglas Fir and Tamarack are softwoods that give a long-lasting burn and great heat. Tamarack is a good choice for a fireplace due to its minimal crackling. Douglas Fir also has moderate sparking and is easy to start. This mix is great for the harsh winter season and is the best-prized firewood in the area.

Lodgepole, Pine, Spruce, Fir

Lodgepole is an excellent affordable option lending to a great wood fire. Lodgepole is a denser species in the mix known for its good burning quality and high heat output compared to many other softwoods. The addition of pine, spruce and fir makes it possible to ignite the fire almost instantly and rise the temperature in no time. All four types of softwood boast a pleasing aroma and a clean, smoke-less burn. This selection of woods is fireplace-friendly, produces nice crackling, and leaves little ash to deal with.
