If you have a small wood stove and standard firewood just won’t work, we are happy to provide our premium stove wood. While retaining all the qualities you love our seasoned firewood for, these logs have a smaller diameter of approximately 4-8”. By default, we offer a log length of 16” but can also cut between 14-20” lengths upon request.

Types of Stove Wood We Supply

Firewood available at Flathead Father N’ Son comes from local forests. Rich in conifers, Northwest Montana forests allow us to get a high-quality and sustainable heat source. However, not all types of firewood produce the same result when sent to a wood stove. Make sure to choose firewood carefully to get the fire experience you hope for. These are the options we offer:

Douglas Fir and Larch. The mix of two conifer firewood types is ideally suited for both indoor and outdoor wood-burning needs. When burning, they give off a lot of heat and a pleasant smell for good measure. Douglas Fir and Larch are highly valued for their clean, almost smokeless burn and a small amount of ash. They are safe for fireplaces due to minimal popping and crackling.

Lodgepole, Pine, and Spruce. You’ll love this mix for your wood stove, campfire, or fire pit. As opposed to Douglas fir and Larch, it produces cheerful cracking for unforgettable nights by the fireside. Pine and spruce are super easy to ignite, while lodgepole helps sustain a hot and intensive fire. Although these softwoods don’t burn for too long, they make your experience truly delightful thanks to the stunning coniferous scent, minimal smoke, and low volumes of ash to clean.

If you’re looking for hardwood to mix with softwood fuel, we have Birch firewood to offer.

Sustainable Stove Firewood in Flathead County, Montana

At Flathead Father N’ Son, we pride ourselves on sourcing the best quality firewood for wood stoves and other needs. Our approach is simple – we harness the power of nature and sustainability to offer a product that is both efficient and eco-friendly. Working with several reputable suppliers, we have a chance to carefully select trees and logs that can be repurposed as heat sources for homes and businesses.

You’ll be glad to hear that firewood harvesting doesn’t hurt the ecosystem – we consider only deadwood for logging. On the contrary, removing dead-standing trees helps living trees grow healthier and bigger. But before we harvest, we set such trees aside to air dry for at least 18 months. As a result, we get seasoned firewood that burns cleaner, hotter, and longer than green wood or unproperly dried logs.

To turn logs into fire-ready stove wood, we use a special wood processing machine capable of handling multiple 40′ trees at once. With machine precision, it cuts the logs to length and splits the wood into easy-to-use sizes. As we mentioned, we can cut logs to 14-20” lengths, with 16” being our most popular option.
